The Union County Sheriff’s Office\E-911 is currently accepting applications for the position of Telecommunicator\Correction’s Officer and the position of Patrol Deputy to update the employment eligibility list. All candidates considered for the position of Telecommunicator\Correction’s Officer or Patrol Deputy will be selected from the eligibility list compiled by the Union County Sheriff’s Office Merit Board. All applicants must file an application with the Union County Sheriff’s Office on or before 4:00 P.M., February 21, 2014. Applications may be obtained at the Union County Sheriff’s Office located at 309 West Market Street Jonesboro, Illinois and must be returned in person at the same address. The entrance for the Sheriff’s Office is located on the north side of the building. All applicants must meet the following requirements to apply for the positions of Telecommunicator\Correction’s Officer and Patrol Deputy.

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Become a resident of Union County within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work holidays and rotating shifts which would include days, evenings and nights.
  • Ability to multi task while handling emergency situations m a calm and professional manner.

All applicants will be subject to a written examination, background investigation and an oral interview. In addition, applicant.s may also be required to complete a drug screening, polygraph examination and a physical examination.
